    Yummy Oatmeal Cookies
    Chewy and crisp, loaded with raisins and chocolate chips, oatmeal cookies are popular with adults and kids alike. This recipe is easy to make and sure to be a favorite throughout the year. Enjoy these rich and hearty cookies right out of the oven, or wrap some up for your coworkers.

    • 1 cup packed brown sugar
    • ½ cup granulated sugar
    • ¾ cup shortening
    • 1 egg
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • ¼ cup water
    • 1 cup flour
    • ½ teaspoon baking soda
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
    • 3 cups quick-cooking oats
    • 1 cup chocolate chips
    • 1 cup raisins

    1. Preheat oven to 350 F.

    2. Cream together brown and white sugars and shortening in a medium bowl.

    3. Stir in egg, vanilla and water.

    4. Mix together the flour, salt, baking soda and cinnamon. Add to sugar-shortening mixture.

    5. Stir in oats.

    6. Fold in raisins and chocolate chips.

    7. Place by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.

    8. Bake 12 to 15 minutes.

    Tips:
    • Old-fashioned rolled oats and quick-cooking oats can be used interchangeably in almost all recipes.
